Donnachadh AVA labels

We're often asked by prospective clients: "how do you define a successful project?" There is no one right answer, but a good indicator is when clients return to us for more design work. Such was the case with Donnachadh. We developed original branding and package design for proprietors Drew and Laurie Duncan in 2019. Almost two years later when they were ready to produce a second label for their non-estate wine tier, they asked Gatto Rivera Branding to lead the creative effort.

Donnachadh AVA Chris Buzelli

In our Visual Kickoff we presented a curated list of artists who we determined could be a good fit for illustrating custom artwork that would compliment the linocut mercreature that dons the estate tier. All parties agreed that New York-based artist Chris Buzelli's surreal oil painting style held tremendous potential for expanding the Donnachadh brand universe and, lucky for us, Chris was available and up for the task.

Gatto Rivera briefed Chris and provided art direction throughout the Concept Phase. The final result is a striking pair of labels that give these wines unmistakable personalities. The kelpie and sea serpent are bold and effective extensions to Donnchadh's mythical sea creature lineup.
